Terms & Conditions
Please take some time to read the following terms and conditions before you place an order.
Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch. When you place an order I assume that you have read and accepted these terms.
1. Home Consultation
Curtains and Blinds require a Home Consultation to provide you with a quote, agree on the finish of the soft furnishings and get the accurate measurements.
Quotes should be checked and agreed to before finalising the order.
2. Blinds and Curtains made with Your measurements
Although I will give you full guidance how to take accurate measurements for any blinds and curtains ordered or altered without a home consultation, full responsibility for their accuracy sits with the customer.
Any errors in the measurements that result in the need to alter or remake will incur a cost up to the full initial cost of the make.
3. Quote
The Quote will show you the overall cost as well as the cost of the individual items.
Full details of measurements and fabric quantities won't be listed.
My quotes are valid for 30 days.
4. Deposit
A deposit of 50% of the agreed quote is required to secure your order. Deposits need to be payed by bank transfer, full details will be on the invoice for the deposit.
The deposit is non-refundable as it is used to order all materials, with the nature of the work all fabrics are cut to order and are non-returnable.
5. Fitting of Blinds and Poles
Although I am happy to recommend a local service to fit your tracks and blinds the payment for fittings need to be made directly to the fitter.
6. Lead time
Turnaround time is generally around 8-10 weeks from deposit being received.
Any unexpected delays caused by availability will be discussed with you.
7. Completion
Once your order is completed i will contact you to arrange payment for the outstanding balance. An invoice will be provided detailing each item.
Final payment is due upfront collection or delivery/fitting of the final completed items.
All goods remain the property of Thorns&Roses until final payment is received in full.
8. storage
I do not have the facilities to store items so please only order with the view to be able to take delivery on completion. I reserve the right to charge a storage fee for any items not collected/delivered within 5 working days of completion.
9. Fabrics
I have a big library of fabrics for curtains, blinds and upholstery to provide the best service possible with quality fabrics for every budget.
If you prefer to supply your own fabric it will increase the making cost by 20%.
10. Returns and Refunds
All the products i make or supply are bespoke and made to measure, therefore no returns or refunds can be accepted apart from in the case of a fault in the operation or quality (per your statuary rights).
Please note that the following tolerances apply to the products made by me and any issues relating the following are not considered faults:
1. Size tolerance
-
Size tolerance – the unstructured nature of fabric can mean that even with accurate measuring and cutting, there is an industry accepted tolerance for goods at the point of installation. This tolerance of + / -1cm for the width or length of blinds and a + / - 3cm for the width or length of curtains is not considered a fault against the specification provided to the customer at the point of order.
-
Fabric choice – whilst I often work with customers to help them select fabrics, any choice of fabric is the ultimately the customer’s responsibility. Sometimes smaller fabric samples are not a full representation of what the fabric looks like on made up items and if a customer has concerns about this, I would recommend ordering a large sample or seeking online images that show the fabric at scale.
-
Shrinkage / expansion / distortion – environmental factors including heat, cold and humidity may effect fabric over time and cause items to spring back/up or drop in length. Fabric may also twist and distort. This is considered an intrinsic part of the nature of the materials used in soft furnishings, and as such occurrences cannot be considered a fault of manufacture. If at the time of installation, items fall within the above size tolerances, are hanging properly and are accepted by the customer, any subsequent alteration needed to rectify shrinkage, expansion or distortion will incur a cost to the customer.
-
Fading – any fabric fading caused by exposure to UV light is not considered a product fault.
-
Blackout and light bleed - whilst blackout lining provides a great deal of light blockage, there will always be some light bleed. This may be around the sides, top or bottom of the blind itself, or through any stitching that has to be made through the fabric of the blind as part of manufacture. By hand finishing all of my curtains and blinds, I aim am to keep such light bleed to a minimum but it can be more visible on certain fabrics such as linens or loosely woven cottons. Any light bleed as described above is unavoidable and therefore not considered a fault.
-
Pattern - Fabric Patterns may not be straight and will often run out towards the edges of the fabric. Fabric manufacturers work within industry accepted run-off tolerances. I do my best to make them look as straight as possible and will choose whether the pattern runs out at the top, bottom or the sides depending on which looks best. Please also be aware that some fabrics do not pattern match correctly because of this run off. When this occurs I will always pattern match seams from the top however the pattern may run out down the join. Any such pattern run offs are not considered faults.
-
Making up methods – there are many methods that can be used for soft furnishing making and each maker will have their own processes. I have developed my own methods over many years which result in good quality items at affordable prices.
-
Slip covers - these are removable covers made onto the existing upholstery and can only be as good as the funiture underneath. any faults in the funiture can show in the cover. They do not look like reupholstered and can show wrinkles or sack in places depending on the shape and quality of the sofa or chair.
-
Roman Blind Standards - Roman blinds will only be made with my own headrails to guarantee all child safety requirements.
